ABOUT

Nice to meet you. I'm Kara.

When I started in school...I struggled pronouncing my own name.  I still do some days.  Here is an easy way to remember it!

want to meet the girl behind this blog?

You have come to the right place.  When visiting a new blog, I often want to know who this person is, what they do, what they are interested in, and what they like to blog about . So, just as I read a little bit about you, feel free to take some time and read a little bit about me.

My family is originally from the great lakes state of Michigan.  I lived there for 15 years and that was plenty enough. Most of (actually all of) my family (minus my immediate family) still lives there, so I get to visit from time to time.

I moved to North Carolina when I was a sophomore in high school.  I went from a high school of 2,500 students to a school of 400... let's just say I was in shock city.

My family is in agriculture and always has been...so you can say that it is in my blood.  My great- grandfather was a farmer. My parents own a feed store.  It's always been part of my life and I honestly don't know where I would be without it.

Speaking of our feed store, my husband Peyton proposed to me at the feed store on May 9, 2014. We met at the feed store on May 9, 2009, so it holds a special place in our hearts.  It was one of the best days of my life. If you want to read more about our story...read here
We decided that we couldn't wait a year to get married, so we got married 2 months later and it was the best day of our lives. We are currently building a log home just outside of Raleigh and are loving every second of married life.
I was really involved in the National FFA Organization in high school and still am. I had the best agriculture teacher/FFA advisor and served as an North Carolina FFA state officer in 2008-2009. I competed at the national level in prepared public speaking, ran for national FFA office in 2010, and now I am an alumni member.

I went to North Carolina State University and studied agriculture education.  I wanted to be a veterinarian growing up, but FFA and a few struggles in calculus led me to studying what we like to call "ag ed". I graduated in 2012 with some of my best friends and went into an agriculture teaching position that taught me a lot about life.  I left teaching 6 months into the job not because I didn't like it, but because God was leading me somewhere else.
Now, I am the commercial coordinator for Cheminova.  I work specifically with the sales and marketing teams developing reports and facilitating small projects. I am learning the agriculture industry and to me, that is exciting.

I am a Christian, a wife, a big sister, a daughter, and a lover of all people. I grew up riding horses and still wish I could, but currently don't have the time (I travel a lot).  I am a wanna-be southern belle, an athlete, a best friend, and a die-hard North Carolina State Wolfpack fan.  I love driving so you can find me traveling the state of North Carolina most weekends in my lil' red altima.

Life is beautiful and love is what holds it together.  I hope you can enjoy it just as much as I do. Thanks for visiting!
