Guest: Meet The Alisha Nicole!

Yes, I am still on my honeymoon with the love of my life

No, I am not blogging on my honeymoon...but the awesome "schedule" button is for me!

Now that you know I am still loving on my new husband, I thought I would do something out of the ordinary and introduce you to a lady that deserves a little recognition.

When I moved to Raleigh to take a job offer with Cheminova, I knew I needed to develop a circle of friends, especially girlfriends.  Even though I grew up outside of Raleigh, I had grown up quite a bit and needed some friends that would uplift me and make this place feel a little more like home. I had always loved blogging and saw that there was a group of North Carolina bloggers that met up in Raleigh a few times a year.  At the meet-ups, I got to meet some of the best ladies and learned to love blogging even more.

At our last meet-up in March, we did this really fun thing in which we exchanged ways we could help other bloggers.  I got paired up with Alisha from The Alisha Nicole and we exchanged ways to help each other's blogs. Alisha gave me a free month of Ad Space on her blog and I offered to write a post about her!
So, several months later, I finally have some time to tell you about this sweet girl!

Alisha is extremely passionate about music, food, her fur child Porkchop, and helping other creatives pursue their dreams.  She is a lifestyle blogger, jewelry designer and business consultant for creatives. Her blog posts include anything about life, inspiration to uplift your spirits, and small business owner tips.  Take some time to check out her blog...it is really quite a treat!

These are some of my favorite recent posts!

peyton + kara + and a photographer.

Last week, our photographer Tiffani Evans Photo teased us with this picture...and let me tell you, after that, I was glued to every device connected to the internet. You know...waiting ever so patiently for more of our engagement pictures to come back. Folks, patiently is the key word in that sentence. That's the least amount of patience I have had in a long time...at least until this week.
Because patience no longer exists in my vocabulary.  I am SO ready to marry my first true and forever love in just 3 looooonnnggg short days. In the meantime, let me just tell you about our photographer Tiffani...she is AMAZING!

Loving on Peyton isn't an issue for me and loving on me is definitely not an issue for him.  We hug. We kiss. We hold hands. All. The. Time. There is no personal bubble for us and we wouldn't have it any other way.  Public display of affection doesn't phase us one bit. We are in love and we are about to get married. I am going to kiss that boy all I want.
Tiffani is based out of the Queen City- Charlotte, North Carolina- and I happened to find her as a recommendation from another photographer that was booked during our wedding.  There is no doubt in my mind that we hit the jackpot when I found her.  She is so sweet, so caring, so loving, and made our two hour engagement session fly by. We weren't ready to let her travel back to Charlotte...that's for sure!
There are a couple of things that I especially love about Tiffani. She traveled to us...no issues what-so-ever, no questions asked. She asked us where we wanted our engagement photos taken and we immediately knew that we wanted them around his family's home. In 2009, Peyton and I spent most of our summer riding around the golf cart exploring this property. Today, we help his parents tend the garden and upkeep the land.  We love the land and most of our memories are here. This is home for us.
We have a passion for the land and a love for our family backgrounds. Agriculture is important to us.  Hard work and physical labor are part of our daily lives. We appreciate the land and in return it loves our family just as much.  Tiffani saw that and captured nature with such beautiful technique.  Her talent for natural light photography is just so simple and real.  I seriously could go on for days about it.

She was even willing to be a little adventurous with us.  You see, there is a pond and we wanted pictures in it. Fully clothed. I think she thought we were joking when we told her...but then she saw our faces and realized we weren't. She was excited to try something new and wasn't afraid of any challenge. She captured our personalities and true love for each other, even when we get a little goofy.
The love that this boy has for me and the love I have for him is so strong. Some people say that you have to date for years before you truly know someone, but two months was enough for me. I knew I wanted to marry this boy five years ago...but the timing just wasn't right. That's what makes our love story so beautiful. They say if you love something, set it free, and if it comes back, then it was meant to be.  Nothing more truer could be said for Peyton and I.  We always wondered about each other and somehow, the good Lord let us find each other again.  Our love is founded in Christ and we strive to make each other happy every single day. It's what makes our love beautiful...and we couldn't be more excited to start our lives together.
"We love because He first loved us."
1 John 4:19

*All of the above photos were taken by the wonderful Tiffani Evans based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

it's hump day. so I can write whatever I want.

I wanted to write something today...but writing paragraphs and complete sentences didn't seem appealing to me, so you get a list. I write this blog, so I get to make my own rules.

+ Y'all, I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am that in 17 days, 1 hour, and 55 minutes Peyton and I get to be husband and wife (not that I am counting or anything).

+ Anyways, life has been kind of busy planning a wedding, finishing our home, and working our day to day jobs. Our typical date nights are going to Lowe's and getting ice cream afterwards or watching the sun set over the pond.  I love our special nights together, even though most people would not consider these times a real date.

+ My parents, sister, Peyton, and I put polyurethane on just about every inch of our home this weekend. My brother also came to help and declared himself the quality control supervisor. Typical. Moving on...sun-up to sun-down we smelled and saw nothing but a can of polyurethane and a paint brush.  Let me tell you, this house WILL GET FINISHED.

+This happened this past week. I raided the shelves of Sam's Club for fancy plastic plates and cutlery for the wedding.  Oh, and I bought a package of strawberries. That wasn't for the wedding. It was just $5 more...and in the grand scheme of this whole wedding and house building, $5 ain't nothing.
+ We sent out invitations...a couple weeks ago.  I forgot to tell y'all. Oops. Life caught up with me. Still, I am just showing you the envelopes. Some things in life are just private...ya' know? I can't show you all my secrets...

+ My sister's Nursery/Landscape team placed 1st in the state, so they are on their way in October to compete at the National FFA Convention in Louisville! She was the high scoring individual for the event. Let me tell you, she is one smart cookie.  I obviously missed out on them Smartie pants. I just eat Smarties like they are going out of style and watch them make my pants fit tighter.
+ I've ran out of things to talk about. So, you just get a funny picture. Until next time...(yeah...I really really don't know what else to say.)

where's Kara?

Looking for a post today?

Find me over at The Blue Dishes! I am guest posting for my sweet friend Haley.  She just got married a couple of weeks ago to the love of her life. She and her husband are such an adorable couple.  Reading her posts have made me even more excited to get married in just a few weeks. I love reading her blog and hope you fall in love with it just as much as I have!

Since it's summer, you can find me talking about some of my favorite places to visit in North Carolina! After traveling through all 100 counties in North Carolina, I have a passion for this state and all it offers. I hope you get a chance to stop by and visit her. She is truly a sweet southern belle!
