the good. the bad. the ugly.

Ya'll...I have a great weekend, go to blog about it, then realize I have few to no pictures.  Who wants to read a blog post without pictures?!?! Yes, I read posts that don't have pictures, but I really have to LOVE the blog to read the post without pictures. Silly, I know...but, I have always been one of those girls that judges a book by its cover (when I read one) and really truly only read magazines.  What can I say...I love pictures!

Today I am linking up with Kati over at Incorporating Color and Kate at Classy Living for the good, the bad, and the ugly of my weekend!

the good.
I had lots of good this weekend.  I got to go home to the family feed store and spend some time there.  I love spending time with everyone and hope that one day I can go back and work there, or own a feed store of my very own!

On Sunday, one of my best friend's and I went to the Southern Women's Show in Raleigh.  Afterwards, we went to the mall to look for some dresses.  Thankfully, it was a rainy day, which saved us from spending too much money on cute summer clothes.  I got some new eyeshadow and this AWESOME bottle of wine from the Southern Women's Show.

Thanks to Iron Gate Vineyards for the Mother's Day specialty wine called "Rosies Roses".  It has a mix of strawberry and honey flavors...so smooth and so sweet.  I can't wait to try it on a beautiful spring day!

the bad.
I had an AMAZING hair day today...this was even after it decided to pour down rain.  So...all in all, it wasn't bad, just a bad day to have nice hair :)

the ugly.
By no means is this piece of cheesecake ugly...but it was ugly for my waistline.  My friend was craving something sweet, so we treated ourselves to delicious cheesecake.  I got something with Snickers candy bars in it and she got the white chocolate blueberry.  They were so good.

All in all...I have nothing to complain about.  I am blessed beyond belief and am ready to get this week started off right!

what's my decorating style?

Think about how you decorate at your home...what is it decorated like? What colors do you use? I have been thinking lately that we tend to decorate like someone in our family once did.  Usually, like mother like daughter.

Yes, my mom and I have similar tastes and decorating styles, but with this new apartment, I find my living room to be decorated like my mom does at home but I have been developing my own decorating style elsewhere.

I tend to like brighter and more neutral colors like whites and tans and accent it with pinks, oranges, and blacks.

The one thing that my mother and I do have in common is trying to find a great deal. Yes, we like department store deals, but the real fun is traveling from garage sale to garage sale on a Saturday morning or looking on the side of the road to find something cheap or better yet, free. It's actually something I find that both of my parents love doing.

Below is my latest trash to treasure find.

These vases/dishes were found at my local Goodwill Community Foundation for a grand total of $5.  I wish I would have taken a before picture because they were dirty and grimy.  I bought some fake flowers from Dollar Tree and put them in the pitcher/creamer.  I would really like to put some larger flowers in the large vase, but I did not realize how expensive they were!  I will definitely be waiting until a better coupon becomes available or I can find them at a thrift store.

Final Total of the Project: $7

Go check out Target or Home Goods and see how much it would cost to decorate your house with brand new things...its kind of ridiculous.  Thanks to Pinterest, I find new ideas and take the time to find something that I can make my own!

Today I am linking up with Kammy's Korner for Trash 2 Treasure Tuesdays!

new blog design and a couple new reminders...

Notice something different?  My blog design has finally been uploaded and I could not be happier with it!!!  Looking for a new design but don't have the tools to create it...or lets be honest, the brains?!?

Check out Melanie.  She owns Tinker B Designs and was so wonderful to work with, plus she creates beautiful, affordable designs!  I found her on Etsy, along with several other blogger designers, narrowed down the options, and decided to use her. I couldn't have chosen a better designer!

Blogging is therapeutic for me.  Most of my high school and college career was spent writing in journals. I had always wanted to start and maintain a blog (the maintenance part can be difficult at times), but I truly love and enjoy it.  I realize that I am not super crafty, I am not a mom, and currently do not have any special hobbies, so my blog is not like most of those I read. I know that I love reflecting on everything...life, work, and relationships. I am in the business of making memories and want to cherish those forever.  So why not blog?

Take some time to look through my new blog design.  The social media buttons on top actually work :) So, feel free to begin following me.  Most of my accounts are still on lock down from teaching, but don't be afraid to just click the button and see what I do on a daily basis. I promise you some good laughs.

Let me know if there is anything you would like to see or if there is something you really like. I can't wait to hear from you!

CARA Box Exchange

 FINALLY...

I have been seriously slacking at this blogging thing.  Why? I'm busy...or I like to think that I am ;)

So, this sweet sweet darling of a lady sent me a beautiful box that made my day.  I have had a lot of fun reading Karen's blog and could not wait to see what she had put into my CARA box.

What is the CARA box?  It is a fun little exchange program between bloggers that allows women to grow and meet new people in the blogging community.  It was my first time doing it and it was definitely a hunt.  I prepared a box for the lovely Kaitlyn and I hope that she loved it :)

And...the CARA box I received was full of wonderful goodies!  This month's theme was that every item had to start with the first letter of your name!  Well, I am Kara with a K.  In my opinion, K's were hard to find things for, but it made for lots of fun and created a good eye!

The cutest bag ever :) Got me in the mood for spring!
Some of my favorite things...I love the SPRING colors!
So, as I said, K's are HARD but I think Karen did really well!  I have that cute journal sitting near my bed so I can take down random thoughts (AKA grocery list, etc).  I can't tell you how much I need travel Kleenex for all the movies I cry during and the springtime allergy sniffles.  The nail polish is called "KISS me PINK" and is one of the most beautiful colors against my pale skin.  The key ring is perfect for my new car keys! And...what girl doesn't need a Kit Kat every once in a while.

Thanks Karen for the encouraging card and sweet words! I loved it all!

PS. I told her that I loved red and white...she had trouble finding things in red and white so she wrapped it in red tissue paper :) I think she has got me hooked on these spring colors though!

Join in the fun here next month!
